Kindergarten

Jake was supposed to have his 1st day of kindergarten on Monday, but what do you know, he got sick and missed it!!  The night before, he woke up at 3am crying, said he couldn't breathe well, and had a croopy cough.   I was more sad than he was.  I missed the head of the school's prayer at the "boo hoo's and bagels" where he prayed each child's name and prayed for the whole year.  I missed the 1st photo, and the scavenger hunt when you arrive with your parents. Instead, we went to the pediatrician, got the steroid shot, and went home to rest.
When I called my mom for some sympathy,  she teared up as we talked about the REAL heartache and suffering happening at that very moment with a mom finding out her baby has cancer, or her child is born with a disease, or her child will never walk, etc.  It is all about perspective.  Mom seems to always know how to make me feel better and bring light to a situation.
Jake had a great day on Tuesday and loves it!  He is not used to tucking his shirt in and dressing up so that might be an adjustment.  His teacher is wonderful.  Evie had her 1st day of JK this morning and she was thrilled about her uniform and new classroom.  Her best buddy, JT, is in her class and they were so proud as they walked in the room.
